Check out the video where Gretchen explains how we chose what to include in our ditch bag. Here’s a list of what made it in: First aid First aid kit with wound care, breakable ice packs, pain killers, antacids, alcohol…

Meet Gretchen & Tim

Meanwhile, over on Instagram

Today Tim and Mike started the process of running all new wire up the mast. MUCH easier to do with the stick on the ground. We’re putting in new @bandgsailing instruments including radar which will be mounted to the mast. We’re also changing out all the nav light bulbs with LED bulbs. 🔹 We’re installing working lights that shine up and down the mast so that we’ll be able to see the sail furling/reefing at night. 🔹 Installing the #iridiumgo antenna. 🔹 And, finally, we’re installing a PA speaker so we can have an auto fog horn (and yell at bone head jet skiers who stop in front of us). 🔹 The standing rigging work continues. Ryan, our rigger, is back at the shop, building the new wires.🔹 I cleaned out the bilge and started cleaning the interior teak (after working my day job from 4-7:30am).🔹 But, it was a rough day for us. The head/black tank removal project continues and was not a clean operation. We pissed off the yard with our mess and everyone seems to be upset with us (it got cleaned up… by us… but not as fast as they would have liked). Hopefully they will let us out of the doghouse soon. Otherwise, it’s gonna be a long couple of weeks. Hopefully everyone can move on. 💩 #vitaminsea #yacht #yachting #bluewatersailing #offshore #oceanlife #saltyvibes #offshoresailing #sailingadventure #gntsailing #boatlife #sailinglife #sailinginstagram #sailstagram #oceanlover #oceanlife #sailing #sail #sailingcouple #catalina42 #ilovehateboats #boatwork #sdboatworks #koehlerkraftboatyard
I would like to thank Rhodes 19 sailing in Chicago for completely desensitizing us to seeing our boat on a crane. So many sailing channels we watch talk about how nerve wracking it is to see your boat in the air — which we totally get. But, we’ve been hauling our boats in and out on cranes (that we operate🤪) multiple times a week for 14 years. This is one of the few things that does not give me jitters in the world of big boat sailing. I’ll take it! 🤩 #vitaminsea #yacht #yachting #bluewatersailing #offshore #oceanlife #saltyvibes #offshoresailing #sailingadventure #gntsailing #boatlife #sailinglife #sailinginstagram #sailstagram #oceanlover #oceanlife #sailing #sail #sailingcouple #catalina42 #sdboatworks #koehlerkraftboatyard #rhodes19 #rhodes19racing #drydock #chicagocorinthianyachtclub

Mast off. Almost ready!
Our 10 day haulout @koehlerkraft has begun. Step one, get all the standing rigging detached so we can pull the mast. 🔹 #vitaminsea #yacht #yachting #bluewatersailing #offshore #oceanlife #saltyvibes #offshoresailing #sailingadventure #gntsailing #boatlife #sailinglife #sailinginstagram #sailstagram #oceanlover #oceanlife #sailing #sail #sailingcouple #catalina42 #sdboatworks #koehlerkraftboatyard
