Check out the video where Gretchen explains how we chose what to include in our ditch bag. Here’s a list of what made it in:

  • Emergency blankets
  • Baseball hats
  • Hand sanitizer
  • Sun block
  • Bug repellent
  • Spare eye glasses
  • Spare sunglasses

  • High protein, non-thirst inducing food (peanut butter, tuna, nuts, dried fruit)
  • Empty water bottles
  • Potty bottle (different color from water bottles)–what goes in, must come out!
  • Water jugs near ditch bag
  • Water purifier
  • Fishing equipment

  • Fog horn
  • Compass
  • VHF (with latitude and longitude) that is battery operated
  • Mayday script
  • Copies of passports, IDs, boat registration papers, credit card numbers

Throw in some zip ties – multiple sizes. Cheap, compact and super handy.
